Newly Redesigned VPS105D Digital Air Flow Probe

Cerulean is pleased to introduce the newly redesigned VPS105D Digital Air Flow Probe, featuring a range of usability and functionality improvements designed to enhance operator experience, simplify calibration, and improve overall efficiency.
The updated VPS105D has been developed with a refreshed outer enclosure and an increased unit size, making the removal of the case and calibration process significantly easier for users. The redesign also includes the removal of the top-mounted power button, providing a cleaner and more streamlined unit design. One of the major enhancements to the new VPS105D is its updated power functionality. The unit no longer requires batteries and can now be powered directly from the VFA smoking machine or via a multi-regional interchangeable AC/DC external power supply.

The VPS105D is designed to support accurate and repeatable airflow measurements in accordance with ISO 3308 requirements. The ISO 3308 standard specifies that the air velocity across the smoking article must be maintained at 200 mm/s ± 20 mm/s to ensure consistency and repeatability throughout the smoking process. As airflow behaviour around the cigarette exists in a transitional state between laminar and turbulent flow, accurate measurement requires the use of an omni-directional air velocity probe. The VPS105D has been engineered to overcome common issues associated with traditional airflow measurement devices, including probe positioning inaccuracies and probe damage during setup.
To improve measurement consistency and reduce operator error, the VPS105D probe is positioned directly into the Cambridge Filter Holder eccentric adjuster, enabling automatic and repeatable positioning while reducing setup and measurement times. The measurement probe is also enclosed within a protective cage designed to minimise the risk of damage without interfering with the natural airflow around the digital probe.

The VPS105D is available in two versions: a UKAS Verified option for laboratories requiring accredited calibration certification, and a Cerulean calibrated version providing reliable and accurate performance for routine testing applications.
